Filipino spaghetti is not your regular pasta dish! It’s so aromatic, sweet, meaty, and savory. It makes it perfect for either lunch or dinner. It is definitely one of my favorite meals to have.



I think the first time I had sweet Filipino spaghetti was from the one and only, Jollibee. After that first bite, I became obsessed. The sauce was sweet and meaty, there was cheese, and the pasta was cooked perfectly.


Whenever a Jollibee was around and I ended up going, I always got the Filipino spaghetti. There was no question or doubt about what I would get. ALWAYS. THE. SPAGHETTI.



However, I haven’t been to a Jollibee for a few months now, and I don’t think I can go back to one. At least not for a while until I’m ready.


So I decided to try to make sweet Filipino spaghetti at home. For the first time making it, I really like how it turned out. Meaty, cheesy, and sweet. YUM.


If you aren’t too sure about having sweet spaghetti, I would give this a shot. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Tips On Making Sweet Filipino Spaghetti


When adding the sugar, I use 1 tablespoon. That feels right to me and the sauce tastes perfect. If you don’t want it too sweet, add the sugar little by little. Mix and taste. Continue to do that until you get the desired sweetness you want.


While your sauce is simmering, keep an eye on your sauce. You may need to add more water as it cooks.


If you add more water, be sure to taste. You may need to add more sugar or seasonings.



Garlic Fried Rice – If you love garlic, this is the fish for you. Perfect for breakfast or any time of the day, really. :)


Chicken Adobo – This is another one of my favorites. Chicken and potatoes simmered until tender? Sign me up and drizzle some of the sabaw over my rice! YUM!


Beef Mechado – This recipe is perfect over rice on a cold night. Super comforting and deliciously filling.


Chicken Asado – Another slow cooked chicken dish in a tomato base. Also super delicious over a nice steaming bowl of rice.


Filipino Picadillo – Ground beef slow cooked in a tomato base. Every bite has beef, peas, carrots, and potatoes. Even better with rice.

  • 3-4 piece Filipino Hot Dogs
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1/3 cup Red Onions chopped
  • 2 tbsp Garlic chopped
  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 16 oz Tomato Sauce
  • 1 cup Beef Broth
  • 6 oz Tomato Paste
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 pinch Ground Black Pepper
  • Pasta
  • 1 pinch Shredded Cheese


  • In a pan, add oil.
  • Once the oil is warm, add Filipino hot dogs and sauté for 2 - 3 minutes. Remove, place into a bowl, and set aside.
  • In the same pan, add onions and garlic. Sauté for 2 - 3 minutes.
  • Add beef and use the back of a wooden spoon to break up the meat.
  • Add tomato sauce, beef stock, and tomato paste. Mix well.
  • Add in sugar. Mix again.
    *Add in sugar little by little if you don't want it too sweet.
  • Cover and simmer on low for 30 - 45 minutes or until beef is cooked.
  • Salt and pepper to taste. Then add in Filipino hot dogs.
  • Give one final mix.
  • Serve hot with spaghetti and enjoy.
    *OPTIONAL* Sprinkle some shredded cheese on top.
