Snack Hotspot Hearsch Bakery

My husband grew up in India where there was a very popular snack hotspot called Hearsch Bakery located in Bandra West, Mumbai. Whenever he was in the area with family, they would stop by for snacks at Hearsch Bakery!

This isn’t the exact recipe that he grew up eating, but I did put my own spin on it and he enjoys it just as much!

This is shredded chicken sandwich is a really simple recipe with ingredients that should be readily available in your kitchen! It’s easy to cook, easy to assemble, and super easy and yummy to devour!

Notes For Cooking

I always defrost my chicken prior to when I’m going to make it. If your freezer is a beast like mine, I would definitely defrost it in the refrigerator first.

Be sure to bring your water to a boil first before dropping your chicken in. I’ve made the mistake of dropping it in before the water boils, and I feel like it just took forever to cook.

Play around with the amount of ingredients you want in it. I know some people like lots of mayo and others may hate it. Same thing with the spices. Add the amount that you like and enjoy!

Detailed Instructions

  • In a deep pot, bring water to a boil.
  • Once water is boiling, add salt.
  • Add chicken into boiling water for 15 minutes.*
Note: Depending on the size of chicken breast, your cook time may vary.
  • Once the chicken is cooked, remove and place in a bowl.
  • In the bowl, shred the chicken. I use two forks.
  • Add Japanese Mayo.*
Depending on how wet or dry you want your mixture, I would slowly add in the mayo and stir until you find the consistency you like.
  • Sprinkle in red chili powder and red chili flakes.*
Again, same thing on this step. Depending on how much heat you want in your sandwich. Start small and add as you taste.
  • Sprinkle in your turmeric and mix well.
  • When ready to assemble, place one lettuce leaf in the hotdog bun, or more if you want more crunch and veggies!
I use one leaf, cause I'm a huge carnivore and my husband laughs at me for it every chance he gets...
  • Stuff hot dog bun with the chicken salad mixture and enjoy!
