Crispy Air-Fried Chicken Tenders

Need a great crispy air-fried chicken tender? Hold onto your seats, cause I got you! Not only do these tenders come out crispy, but it is also air fried and not deep-fried! Whaaaattt?!

 

I have an air fryer that I have had for a while but barely used. I could never figure out what to make with it, and I have no idea why I never thought of chicken tenders. Then one day, the lightbulb clicked and I was like, I can make crispy air-fried chicken tenders!

 

 

Around the same time, I was also going through a Nashville Hot spree. I wanted to try all the Nashville Hot chicken sandwiches and I mean ALL of them. There’s something about Nashville Hot chicken that I just love. Maybe it’s the burn of the spice around my mouth, maybe it’s the delicious taste, but whatever it was, I wanted it all the time.

 

When I decided to make crispy air-fried chicken tenders, I wanted to try to replicate the Nashville Hot flavors. Let me tell you, this recipe is mild. It is not too spicy. All these places that have perfect their Nashville Hot flavors, I commend you. It was not easy for me at all, but I still enjoyed these tenders tremendously.

 

 

I think what I have for my crispy air-fried chicken tenders is a good start. I think I’ll eventually come back and try working it out to making it even spicer, but for now, this will do. Especially if you aren’t able to handle huge amounts of spice, this recipe is perfect.

Tips On Making Crispy Air-Fried Chicken Tenders

 

If you don’t want to use an air-fryer, you can also bake them in an oven or deep fry them.

Ingredients

Breading

  • 1 lb Chicken Tenders
  • 3/4 cup Milk
  • 1 tbsp Sriracha
  • 3/4 cup Panko
  • 1/2 tsp Paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper

Dip

  • 3/4 cup Avocado Oil
  • 3 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 1 tbsp Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1 tsp Dry Mustard
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, add milk and sriracha.
    Mix together well and set aside.
  • In a large bowl add panko, paprika, smoked paprika, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper.
    Mix well.
  • One by one, dip the chicken tenders into the milk mixture and then immediately into the breading.
    Be sure to coat all sides of the chicken tenders and set them aside on a plate.
  • Once all the chicken tenders are dipped and ready, add chicken tenders into the air fryer.
    Do not overcrowd the air fryer.
  • Cook chicken tenders at 370 degrees Fahrenheit for 7 minutes.
  • When the time is up, flip and cook for an additional 7 minutes.
  • Once the tenders are cooked, set them aside.
  • Add avocado oil to a warm pan.
  • Add brown sugar, cayenne powder, paprika, dry mustard, garlic, and salt.
    Mix well until all the spices have dissolved and the mixture is bubbling.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Pour over the tenders. Toss in the dip and make sure all the tenders are coated.
